Visa U.S. Freeskiing Grand Prix Opens with Halfpipe Qualifiers

COPPER MOUNTAIN, CO (Jan. 9) – Over 100 athletes from 37 countries took to Copper Mountain’s Main Vein Superpipe today at the Visa U.S. Freeskiing Grand Prix. Under Colorado blue skies men and women’s halfpipe qualifiers went off without a hitch to kick off the first domestic FIS World Cup of the year. Every U.S. Freeskiing halfpipe team athlete who competed made it into finals, this included rookie stars Aaron Blunck (Crested Butte, CO), Alex Ferreira (Aspen, CO), and Annalisa Drew (Andover, MA). The weekend will be televised on both NBC and the NBC Sports Network, plus live coverage of halfpipe finals on the USSA Network.
The Visa U.S. Freeskiing Grand Prix tour kicked off at Copper Mountain today with men and women’s halfpipe qualifiers.
All of U.S. Freeskiing’s halfpipe athletes that entered the competition made it through to finals.
Three athlete’s from the U.S. Freeskiing Rookie team made it through, Aaron Blunck (Crested Butte, CO), Alex Ferreira (Aspen, CO), and Annalisa Drew (Andover, MA).
